A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to interview Heather Hiles, CEO and Founder of Pathbrite, on WizIQ. It’s taken me a while to edit the video and get it posted on iTunes (summer is supposed to be a time when we slow down and relax a bit, right? Wrong! So I’m running a little behind.) However, I think this interview was well worth the wait. Pathbrite is a digital portfolio site that’s slick, fast, easy, and infinitely cooler than a resume.
In fact, there are more than a few people (myself included) who would say that the resume is dead (or it should be, at least). We need a far better way to present ourselves to employers, educators, schools, and even to simply keep track of our accomplishments or interesting things we’ve done. Facebook just doesn’t cut it as a sharable picture of our skills, talents, and awesomeness. Pathbrite, however, is precisely the tool for the job.
Don’t take my word for it, though. First, watch the interview with Heather and then check out the sample portfolio I put together in literally five minutes. I, for one, am killing my resume. Embedded portfolios from Pathbrite will be the only things that future employers will see from me. If they want my life on a single sheet of paper and expect to get a sense of who I am and what I can do for their company in 8.5 x 11.5 inches, then I don’t really want to work for them anyway.
And now my sample portfolio. Just click the arrow on the right side of the iframe to see the elements of the portfolio or follow the link to my Pathbrite portfolio to see what it looks like outside the small embed below.
