Being a multi-tasker is not easy. It is not only your calendar book that’s cluttered, but also your mind. The imagination takes on the form of a wild, untamed horse, whose reins just slipped through the hands of practicality and rationality. You wish to be learning several things, in several places, at the same time, but are bound by the rules of time and space. These are the times when you most wish for all the cool magical tricks from Harry Potter novels; the Floo powders, the Time-Turner and the Apparition. (Sigh).
So while at my desk pouring over my work, I was lamenting over my inability to attend the 9th International Congress on English Grammar, being held at the Vellore Institute of Technology, in Tamil Nadu, from Jan 3 to Jan 5, 2013. Why didn’t I travel to Vellore, you ask? Let me Google it! Voila! (More Sighs)
I console myself with the thought of a newspaper article summarizing the 3-day event. Something is better than nothing. So, while prominent speakers like Dr. Shanna Surendra (Cultural Affairs Officer, US Consulate, Chennai), Dr. V Ilangovan (National Testing Service, India), Dr. Bradley Smith (University of Melbourne) and Dr. V Hariprasad (EFLU, Hyderabad), speak about English grammar, lexicography, linguistics, English language teaching, and information and communication technology in language teaching, I sit and daydream about all of the knowledge I would have been cashing-in if only I were in Vellore. How could I possibly make my dream come true?

What? Is it really as easy as it sounds?
And I find out.
And thus began the amazing experience of participating in the Live Webcast of an Educational Event that is happening miles away, without being physically present there. I not only enjoyed a constant upload of high quality audio and video, but also increased my knowledge about various aspects of Lexicogrammar. Moreover, I have a luxury of coming back to this same resource and accessing the presentations and videos at leisure.
I have realized that with the WizIQ Virtual Classroom, the possibilities of online learning and teaching are endless. An international level , educational event truly goes global with the option of Live Web-casting and the educational cause reaches a larger audience. As busy as people are these days, WizIQ seems to be an essential option.
The new Windows 8 might boast of its numerous features and of being ‘Everything at Once’, but it would be only justified to establish an analogy here and give WizIQ a tag of its own – “Everywhere at Once”!
