It is organized by the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE). Presenting at EdMedia
Dr. Ludmila Smirnova and I will be co-presenting a paper and giving a workshop. The presentation is a best practice paper based on my online work on WizIQ and Moodle. We will be discussing the differences between the dissemination of new online technologies and the preparation required to adapt them into professional contexts. The two are very different learning tasks and the achievement of both is necessary for the implementation of technology to succeed.
Online Conferences and MOOCs
The focus will be on how WizIQ has facilitated my work as an online and blended learning teacher. I have been designing and implementing online courses and events since 2009. The online courses include professional development courses on teaching with technology using Moodle and WizIQ. The courses run on Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning (IT4ALL), a social network that provides professional development for educators around the world and Moodle for Teachers (M4T) free Moodle courses for teachers and administrators and on WizIQ courses.
WizIQ as a Learning and Teaching Environment
The events take place on WizIQ and include two online conferences (Moodle MOOT and Connecting Online for Instruction and Learning) and a Moodle MOOC. MoodleMOOT (2011-2013) takes place in August and Connecting Online (CO09-CO14) runs in February. The conferences are hosted on a Moodle site called MoodleMoot and WizIQ education online platform.
Blending Live Classes with Moodle
The focus of the EdMedia presentation is on the dissemination of the course/learning management e-learning system “Moodle” through the virtual sessions in a variety of formats (webinars, MOOCS, virtual conferences) that additionally adjust the pedagogical perspectives of educators to empower learners.
Best Practices with WizIQ and Moodle
The presentation will include: (a) the nature of online facilitation, (b) collaborative writing and moderation, (c) the process of developing and sustaining community of practice, (d) teaching a large and diverse audience online (e) the challenges faced in co-facilitation in a variety of online training contexts (workshops, MOOCs, virtual conferences), (f) solutions found, and (g) lessons learned.
Workshop on Moodle
In addition, we will be conducting a teacher training workshop on how to use Moodle 2.6. We have been giving these workshops on EdMedia since 2011. You’re invited to join the EdMedia conference in Finland and participate in the Moodle workshop.
